  Vakil B.Venkatrao Baliga B.Venkatrao Baliga (1890-1945) was a lawyer and was junior to Shri Ammembal Subbarao Pai the founder of Canara Bank. Vakil Venkatrao Baliga as he was called was also become chairman of Canara Bank during 1942-45. Venkatrao Baliga was elected to the post of Chairman, Municpal Council of Mangalore Municipality in 1938. He served from 1938-1943. He was jailed for participating in the Indian Indipendence Movement. Because of the ill treatment and torture he suffered in the jail he died soon after his release.
